Description

Pig iron is the raw, intermediate product obtained by smelting iron ore in a blast furnace. It contains a very high carbon content (typically 3.5% to 4.5%), making it extremely hard and brittle. It cannot be directly forged or welded and serves primarily as the foundational feedstock for making steel and cast iron.
