Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride Capsules contain Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride I.P. 250 mg, a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic used for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms. Therapeutic Indications Respiratory tract infections Urinary tract infections Gastrointestinal infections Skin and soft tissue infections Acne and other infections caused by susceptible bacteria Mechanism of Action Oxytetracycline inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby producing a bacteriostatic effect against gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Dosage & Administration Dosage to be taken as prescribed by the physician. Preferably taken on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. Avoid milk, dairy products, antacids, calcium, and iron preparations during treatment. Precautions & Warnings Contraindicated in pregnancy, lactation, and children below 8 years due to risk of tooth discoloration and bone growth inhibition. Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment. Prolonged use may result in superinfection or resistance.
